Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered into a search tool is transmitted to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us, we retain the message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, server and analytics systems may record routine technical details about the visit, including:
- Page-view dates and times
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- Visited pages and time spent on them
- The referring website, when available
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files that can help measure traffic, popular pages, and how visitors move through the site. Analytics services may aggregate this usage information. A visitor may block cookies through browser settings, although doing so can change how some features operate.
What We Do With This Data
- Operate, maintain, and improve site performance
- Route a submitted search to the appropriate partner
- Understand which resources visitors use
- Identify and correct technical problems
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Wheeler County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Wheeler County Sheriff, Bartlett courts, Nebraska State Patrol Criminal Identification Division, and Nebraska Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into reports about other people, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes that appear on some pages. Information entered there is governed by the selected provider's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices rather than this policy. Review those terms before sending a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Wheeler County offices, Nebraska court portals, state agencies, legal resources, and outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's own privacy rules apply. Read them before providing personal details.
Advertising companies may use their systems to track activity across websites for ad selection. We do not control that external tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be shared with:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners that process a query a visitor submits
- Advertising networks that serve ads on the site
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We use customary safeguards for information under our control. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Visitors may ask what personal data we hold about them, request correction or deletion, and ask to opt out of certain processing where applicable. Nebraska's Public Records Act, Neb. Rev. Stat. §§84-712 through 84-712.09, governs access to records held by public bodies, while Neb. Rev. Stat. §29-3523 limits public dissemination of specified criminal-history information. Those laws govern official records and do not make this private site a government custodian.
- Request a copy of personal information we maintain about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate personal information
- Seek deletion of personal information where applicable
- Opt out of eligible forms of processing
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy as our practices or legal duties change. A revised version will appear here with its new effective date.
